Redeeming Media, Stories that Uplift
At the beginning of the pandemic I resolved to bring encouragement to the places I write, including here at THYME Magazine. To that end, I have shared positive stories and things of beauty. I really believed that would be a way for us to pull through. Unfortunately there are others who determined to “never let a crisis go to waste” played to our darker angels. Systematically forgetting the good, beautiful and the true, they have sought to tear down the very foundations of our civilization. I grieve because of this.
Media these days receives some well deserved criticism. Indeed it is part of the sending of ‘wrong’ messages in our day as well as the outright censorship of opposing views. Social media has become very much ‘part of the problem.’ Indeed the major platforms such as Facebook and Twitter need to realize that by suppressing my public opinions they have lost the privilege of hosting my private life. I have long since given up posting happy life moments and family photos. The social media platform is simply no longer safe. I will share directly with you who are my friends, but my social media places shall be dark!
But I will continue to share links to my writing, photographs and random thoughts which I publish here and elsewhere. Leaving media totally is a mistake, just as blindly supporting it is. I intend to be ‘part of the solution.’ To that end, here are some films that tell uplifting stories of Redemption.
